What a wonderful week we had! The cottage is thoughtfully decorated and has everything neatly fitted into it. It was such a pleasure to return after a day out, to the peace and tranquility of Hornblower. We loved Whitby, the surrounding villages and the moors. The good weather we were fortunate to have made our holiday even more enjoyable. Thank you Janet and John for a perfect retreat.

The fact that we keep returning speaks for itself. We love the tranquility, and the location never ceases to have the same wonderful impact on us. As each entry suggests the lodge is extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable. The owners Janet and John are lovely.

November 2008. Had a really enjoyable, relaxing week. Lovely coastal path and surrounding areas. The Lodge is very clean and well equipped with the most stunning views. Things not to be missed:
Walk to Whitby, bus to Robin Hoods Bay then walk back to lodge. Goathland, watch ITV making Heartbeat and do all the local walks, don't miss the waterfalls. Passage to India and Magpie Cafe. The best chippy is on the left just after Green Lane.

We loved it!
The cottage is wonderful, so very well-equippped, comfortable and clean. The views are amazing, the owners very very friendly, but not in the least bit intrusive.
The welcome hamper was a fantastic extra and sent us into Whitby to buy more things from Bothams.
The whole coast is beautiful and well worth exploring.
Don't miss the SLATE "beach" just below the caravan site to the north, incredible!
A very big thanks to our hosts.

We came back from here on 02/08/08 after a wonderful two weeks.

The cottage is well presented and you have everything you need. As mentioned before you even get a welcome package with plenty of things to get you started. We enjoyed the walks along the cliff top just outside the property and would walk to Whitby on most days. It is a wonderful little place and we will revisit from time to time.

We have just come back from a three day break. May 2008 and we were delighted with the cleanliness of the cottage and how well equipped it is, there was even a welcome pack of groceries to get you started.
The hosts Janet and John are very friendly, welcoming and helpful and we would recommend it to anyone, infact our friends are in the process of booking and we know they will not be disappointed. We would definately go back.

Just back from a lovely weekend. I agree with the all the previous comments. Lovely family. Cottage beautifully presented immaculate and clean, and the personal touch of a food hamper, books on whitby and surronding area very helpful it felt like home from home. We will definately reccomend it but would like to keep it our secret hideaway!! The views from the kitchen windows are stunning dont forget your binoculars!! Thanks for everything you will definately be seeing us again.

A fabulous find and a wonderful getaway!
The cottage is at the end of a winding lane right on the cliff top with wonderful views.
It is adjacent to the owners home - they are very welcoming and helpful without being intrusive.
The property is spotlessly clean and well-equipped with everything from a corkscrew to a cafeteiere and CD player. There was also a welcome pack with tea, coffee etc. and milk in the fridge to put the icing on the cake. I will definitely be going back!
